Is a blackberry worth it?

No, your a sixteen year old girl not a 35 year old business person. Blackberries are very bulky and they are mainly for checking emails. You probably do more texting than emailing. Blackberries also have a mandatory data plan which is typicaly around $30 US and it doesn't include texting nor the voice plan. So with a blackberry your minimum monthly bill is going to be pretty expensive. If you parents can pay for it then it is fine. If the don't then I would find a phone without the mandatory data plan.
